Case Study : Motorcycle Suspension
The company was asked to produce a range of component parts to produce a high quality racing / road going rear suspension unit for a range of motorcycles. The design criteria was superior performance over the stock item which offered infinitely adjustable adjustments for compression, rebound and spring rates and at a commercially acceptable price.
All of the parts have tight machining tolerances down to 0.2mm along with surface finish requirements of 1.6 Ra and in many cases had to take into account the anodized surface finish requirement within the machining tolerance.
The machine processes required to produce these items to the required standard involves the use of multi axis turning, 4 and 5 axis milling.
